We seek to empower educators with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to create a safe, dynamic, and interactive learning environment in which middle school children can learn meaningfully.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of India marks a significant shift towards holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary education, aligning well with the principles of constructivism.
The Teachers Excellence Program (TEP) aims to foster a deep understanding of constructivist principles and their practical application in the classrooms. It facilitates teachers to move away from rote learning to experience-based learning.
The TEP is designed as a three-year program. Currently it is implemented in two districts of Maharashtra and is a transformative initiative to enhance the quality of education for 6th to 8th Grade (middle school students). The teachers are trained by experts once a month, followed by classroom observation sessions to assess and help teachers take corrective actions, thus facilitating real-time and hands-on capacity building for the teachers.
Post successful completion of the TEP, the teachers are connected through a separate program to sustain and grow the knowledge acquired during the three years of the TEP.
This program initiated in 2020 completed the first batch (2020-2023) of 5 schools and started the second batch (2023-2026) of 6 schools.
District Institute of Education and Training, Pune (DIET) approved the program in July 2023 supporting FCL to continue to build the capacity of Middle school Teachers in constructivism.
So far, 53 teachers have benefited from the training which has positively impacted 1,333 students and continues to help the incoming students of the school as long as the teachers are associated with the school. In 2023-24 we completed 8 cycles of training for the second batch.
The TEP implementation has resulted in noticeable and significant changes in the attitude and understanding of content and constructivism principles in teachers and visible classroom engagement has been seen in students.
An MOU has been signed between FCL and the six schools to implement the program. The trustees and the Head Masters of the school have appreciated the importance of TEP and have recognized and appreciated the benefits.
The teacher’s participation has helped them gain immense value which is visible through their changed teaching Pedagogy.
