FCL's Work

FCL’s work reaches lakhs of children in multiple states in India. Such large-scale impact is achieved by building pedagogical and organisational leadership capacities at multiple levels across large government systems of child development and education. This helps the officers and frontline workers/ teachers facilitate their teams in delivering nurturing care and learning with meaning to the children in their care. Not only does this provide a richer learning and development environment to the children currently in these Anganwadis and schools, the presence of motivated and skilled facilitators within the system ensures sustainability and that future generations of children that pass through these systems will continue to receive the care and education that can help them thrive.

FCL’s impact is therefore multipronged:

  1. At the level of the officers in the system - their motivation, their knowledge, their relationship with their teams, and the effectiveness of the system as a whole.
  2. At the level of the Anganwadi and school through changes in the environment, the quality of care, and teaching-learning processes.
  3. At the level of children - their attendance, interest, felt sense of safety and enjoyment at the preschools and schools; their age-appropriate development with regard to cognitive skills, language skills, social-emotional skills, gross and fine motor skills, aesthetic and creative orientations, and foundational literacy and numeracy skills. For middle and secondary school children - language & expression, quality of inquiry & scientific reasoning, collaboration & cooperation skills, and social emotional competence
